News from Haiti after the earthquake

From: Sherrill Fausey with Christian Light Foundation

Update Feb. 14: We have been hearing rumors that President Preval said on the radio on Friday that he has become a Christian. Wisnal told me he heard the president say this on the radio. Praise the Lord!

In Haiti that means to accept Jesus as his Savior and turn away from Voodoo which in Haiti may mean turning away from the Catholic Church. The reason for this is that Voodoo and Catholic are so deeply entwined in Haiti that it is hard to separate one from the other. Even one of the Catholic popes refused to accept Haitian Catholics because of their involvement in Voodoo.

90% of Haitians are fasting and praying and seeking the Lord for 3 days. Everything is closed. Churches are so full you can't get everyone inside. People are singing and praying all day long.

Haiti is having REVIVAL!

Read the report from the medical team that has been at the house. They have saved the lives of countless people who were injured in the earthquake, had no medical care, and were becoming infected.

I have included some pictures, shown below. My house is a mess. It is a miracle any of us got out. Praise the Lord!

I am in Jacksonville to try to raise funding to make the construction site more livable. I still can't talk. No phone calls. The concrete dust did a number on me. Both ears are infected, sinuses a mess, sore throat, and bad bronchitis. I am feeling a little better but need to rest. The doctor gave me antibiotics and they are helping.

We are receiving some help. There is a construction team surveying the damage and forming a plan to rebuild the wall & build the school/orphanage. Kathy Brooks is keeping my children. Also, a medical team is sleeping at my house and conducting clinics 3 blocks away.

After the earthquake we had no communication. My phone did not work. My computer was in my room hanging out the back of the house. The roads near my house were clogged with thousands of wrecked cars and not passable at first. Having no control over that, I really felt that my first priority was to find food, clothing, and bedding for my children.

Many people wrote concerning adoption. I am not licensed to do adoptions. His Home For Children is a ministry for adoptions.

Many people said they wanted to collect things to send to Haiti. That is a very kind thing to do but I have no way to ship all the shoes & clothes & toiletry items. The people bringing in suitcases right now have them packed with medicines and building tools. That needs to be done through a large organization that ships containers. Agape Flights will be collecting things to donate to needy people.

It is much more helpful to me if you will do a fundraiser. We need to get the children inside the building. We need funding to buy blocks and rebar and concrete. If you want to donate you can make a check out to Harmony and place it in the missions box (in the hall with the sign up sheets) or mail it to the church with a note stating it is for Haiti.

Sherrill Fausey The back section of the house fell off. My desk was hanging from the building. They got it out so I have ID.

My bed was hanging out the back of the house. Mr. Emmanuel's mosquito netting still hangs from the ceiling on the fourth floor. Some of my personal belongings were found in the rubble.

This pavillion fell on an adult literacy class, but they all got out. We did not get much out for the girls. The tin roof was still up.

Class in the yard. Kindergarten in the yard. We had cases of Pop Tarts, so we ate Pop Tarts.

May We Pray For You?
